Landing Airbus, Boeing highlight a 30-year career marked by leadership and growth

MIESBACH, Germany – Axel Hauner, President of Telair, a subsidiary of AAR (NYSE: AIR), was recently honored with the distinguished “Lifetime Achievement” award during the regional Economic Trade Reception of the County held in Miesbach in May.

Mr. Hauner has led Telair for more than 30 years, since the manufacturer of cargo-loading systems for airplanes was located at its original site in Hausham. Under Mr. Hauner’s leadership, Telair grew from 30 to 300 employees and has seen its revenues increase fifty-fold.

“The development from a shop to a systems supplier took off like a rocket,” said Klaus Richter, Airbus’ Executive Vice President of Procurement. Richter, who spoke at the reception and congratulated Mr. Hauner for maintaining a “strong and solid business in Hochlohnland (or a high-wage country) with highly qualified personnel.”

Mr. Hauner said he was honored and pleased to be recognized, adding that his greatest achievements at Telair were becoming a supplier to Airbus and Boeing.

“We were able to demonstrate to both companies that Telair could provide technologically advanced products and services to meet their requirements,” Mr. Hauner said, adding, “…even though I have been honored for lifetime achievement, I still have a few more years.”

Group Vice President for AAR’s Structures and Systems segment, Terry D. Stinson, remarked that that Mr. Hauner’s recognition was well-deserved. “We have been very impressed with Axel’s leadership at Telair. This latest honor demonstrates how Axel and Telair are strengthening AAR’s standing as a leading provider of cargo loading systems to the global aviation marketplace.”
