James E. Goodwin is a retired Chairman and CEO of UAL Corporation and United Airlines, a position he was elected to in March 1999. His career with the organization spanned nearly 35 years.
In 1998, Mr. Goodwin was selected President and Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all operational groups including Flight, Maintenance and Onboard with key product markets including North America, international, shuttle and cargo.
From 1985 to 1998, Mr. Goodwin served successively as Senior Vice President of the Marketing, Services, Maintenance Operations, International and North American divisions for United Airlines.
Mr. Goodwin serves on the board of directors of DBS Communications Inc., Federal Signal Corporation and First Chicago Bank Corporation. He serves on the advisory board of Hu-Friedy, the Board of Trustees of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lewis University, and he is a member of the Council of Retired Chief Executives.
Mr. Goodwin holds a Bachelor’s degree from Salem College and has completed post graduate work at Northern Illinois University.
