AAR Trains South American Airline on Boeing 737NG Landing Gear
October 28, 2013
Program for Aerolineas Argentinas technicians covers full maintenance and overhauls
MIAMI – AAR (NYSE: AIR) has completed a comprehensive training program for Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A., bringing technicians of the South American airline up to speed on landing-gear maintenance for Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. The instruction covered all upkeep tasks, including techniques, processes, and procedures for overhauls.
Participants received classroom instructions, along with on-the-job training, at AAR’s facility in Miami. AAR’s team of landing gear technical experts provided a series of lectures that covered technical documentation related to the Boeing 737NGs, including service letters, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
“After the basics were taught in the classroom, our guests from Aerolíneas Argentinas were given hands-on experience alongside an AAR lead, working on landing gear,” said Peter Loeb, Vice President and General Manager, AAR Landing Gear Services. “The team here in Miami relishes such opportunities to pass on knowledge to other technicians. We appreciate our business relationship with Aerolíneas Argentinas, and we are thrilled with the opportunity to broaden that tie through training and information-sharing.”
After successfully passing a comprehensive examination, each participant from Aerolíneas Argentinas received a certificate of completion, returning to work on landing gear with a high degree of confidence and technical competence.
The Buenos Aires–based airline recently agreed to purchase 20 Next Generation 737-800 airplanes from Boeing. Those will join the 26 Next Generation 737s already in the carrier’s fleet.
AAR offers a wide variety of aviation services that include aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, and supply-chain capabilities for commercial airlines, MRO, defense agencies, and OEMs. AAR’s landing gear facility provides full-service solutions in-house for commercial and military operators worldwide.
